Under Woods' leadership, Atrium Health's net operating revenue in 2017 increased by 5.6% over the prior year. Woods also led a push for expansion into rural North Carolina. While Atrium was thwarted in its efforts to merge with UNC Health Care, it did announce a strategic partnership earlier this year with Georgia-based Navicent Health. Woods was named CEO of Atrium's predecessor organization, Carolinas HealthCare System, in 2016. He served as chair of the American Hospital Association board in 2017.
