Although the University of Cincinnati Medical Center has been around for almost 200 years, the UC Health name and brand are only about a decade old. The health system wanted to create a campaign that would stand out in a competitive landscape. A key message was to counter the stigma of academic medicine: that research, not the patient, is at the center of the mission. The marketing effort sought to link the importance of both patient-centered care and research. Website visits and call center volume have increased since the campaign's launch. Digital display ads received 21,434 clicks during the fourth quarter of 2017 compared with a total of 3,228 clicks in the second quarter, which preceded the campaign's launch.
