Centene Corp., an insurer, set an aggressive goal for its Ambetter product, which is offered on the Affordable Care Act exchanges: retain and increase membership in Ambetter marketplace insurance plans from 1 million to 1.5 million. And it set out to do so during a period of uncertainty for the ACA, including the repeal-and-replace debate and questions around cost-sharing reduction payments. The campaign netted a 45% increase in membership, from 1 million in 2017 to 1.6 million during a time when overall enrollment through the healthcare exchanges decreased.
