As president and CEO of Health Care Service Corp., Steiner leads the nation's largest customer-owned health insurer. The company operates Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, employing more than 22,000 and covering more than 15 million health plan members. Steiner has worked at Blues-related companies for more than 30 years, becoming HCSC's president in July 2015 and adding the title of CEO in January 2016. Before taking the helm, Steiner served as HCSC's executive vice president and chief strategy officer. She also managed the company's external affairs, including government relations and advertising.
