Agee has served as president and CEO of Carilion Clinic, an integrated healthcare organization, since 2011. The organization includes a multispecialty physician group, eight hospitals, the Jefferson College of Health Sciences and a joint venture medical school with Virginia Tech located in Blacksburg. Agee began her healthcare career as a nurse for the Carilion Clinic before serving in a variety of management roles and then being appointed vice president of medical education in 1996. In 2000, she became system vice president and then was promoted again to chief operating officer in 2001. Last year, she became chairman-elect designate of the American Hospital Association. She will assume the chairmanship in 2018.
