McKenna has been COO of Stanford Health Care since January. It's part of Stanford Medicine, which includes the School of Medicine and Stanford Children's Health. He has operational responsibility and fiscal oversight of a $4 billion organization with more than 12,000 full-time employees. In his previous role as COO at the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, McKenna managed a four-hospital system with 11 multispecialty centers. During his tenure at the University of Utah, the health system built two multispecialty clinics and its ranking on the University HealthSystem Consortium's Quality and Accountability Scorecard improved from No. 50 to No. 1. Previously, McKenna also served as COO of Seattle-based University of Washington Medical Center and COO of Salt Lake Regional Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
