Michael Hulefeld\nOchsner Health System\nNew Orleans\nHulefeld has been executive vice president and COO of Ochsner Health System for the past five years, but first joined the organization in 1998. The not-for-profit academic healthcare system includes 30 owned, managed and affiliated hospitals as well as more than 75 regional health centers. Ochsner has more than 17,000 employees and 1,100 physicians in 90 medical specialties, conducts more than 600 clinical research studies yearly and has annual revenue of $3.4 billion. Lowering supply-chain expenses and adding new physician-driven initiatives reduced variation, which has helped Ochsner cut costs by nearly $200 million since 2013. Before being named system COO, Hulefeld was senior vice president and CEO of Ochsner Medical Center.
