Peters has been COO for University Hospitals since 2014. UH includes an integrated network of 18 hospitals, more than 40 outpatient health centers and 200 physician offices throughout northern Ohio. During his tenure as COO, UH added five community hospitals and a joint-venture rehabilitation hospital and increased the number of physicians, advanced-practice providers and employees by 22%. UH and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine also finalized a new academic affiliation agreement in 2016. Peters came to UH from the University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he was chairman of the surgery department and also served as surgeon-in-chief at the university's Strong Memorial Hospital.
