Dr. William Roper is dean of the school of medicine and vice chancellor for medical affairs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and CEO of the UNC Health Care system. He also is professor of health policy and management at the university's School of Public Health. Previously, he was director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 1990 to 1993; served on the senior White House staff under President George H.W. Bush; and was administrator of the Health Care Financing Administration, now known as the CMS, from 1986 to 1989.
