Dr. Toby Cosgrove first joined Cleveland Clinic in 1975 and for the past nearly 13 years has served as chief executive. Cosgrove presides over a healthcare system comprising the Cleveland Clinic, nine regional hospitals, 21 family health and ambulatory surgery centers including Cleveland Clinic Toronto and Abu Dhabi. Under his leadership, Cleveland Clinic has consistently been named among America's top hospitals. Cosgrove is well-regarded for his leadership approaches and his emphasis on the importance of a patient-centered approach to care delivery. Cosgrove in early May announced he would step down as head of the system by year-end but remain with the organization in an advisory role.
