Dr. James Madara serves as executive vice president and CEO of the American Medical Association, the nation's largest and oldest physician organization. Since taking the reins of the AMA in 2011, Madara has led development and implementation of the organization's long-term strategic plan. As an extension of that role, he also serves as chairman of Health2047, an independent, design-driven innovation firm based in San Francisco whose mission is to help advance the AMA's goal of improving the nation's health and well-being. Before joining the AMA, he was CEO of the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was instrumental in expanding the system's research capabilities and delivery network.
