Eric Topol
Founder and director, Scripps Translational Science Institute
Dr. Eric Topol is a professor of genomics at the Scripps Research Institute and founder and director of the Scripps Translational Science Institute. Topol was elected to the National Academy of Medicine and is one of the top 10 most cited researchers in medicine. His principal scientific focus has been on the genomic and digital tools essential to individualize medicine. In 2016, Topol was awarded a $207 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to lead a part of the Precision Medicine Initiative. Before becoming director of the institute at Scripps, he held leadership roles at the Cleveland Clinic, helping to raise the profile of its cardiac services into one of world's best and helping establish a new medical school there.
