Renfro, who has served as CEO of Optum since 2011 and vice chairman of parent company UnitedHealth Group since 2014, leads a team of more than 30,000 people worldwide. In late 2016, CVS Health announced it would partner with OptumRx for pharmacy benefit manager services. In January, OptumCare agreed to acquire Surgical Care Affiliates for about $2.3 billion in a cash and stock deal. Renfro said the deal "will enable us to continue the transition to high-quality, high-value ambulatory surgical care, partnering with the full range of health systems, medical groups and health plans."
