As the planning dean of the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine, set to open in the fall of 2019, Cassel is helping design an innovative approach to training physicians. Students will be taught by the physicians of the Permanente Medical Groups, and they will be surrounded by the people, data and technology of Kaiser Permanente. Previously, Cassel was president and CEO of the National Quality Forum for two years and earlier headed the American Board of Internal Medicine.
