Tejal Gandhi
President and CEO, National Patient Safety Foundation
Whether testifying before Congress or addressing an auditorium full of healthcare executives, Dr. Tejal Gandhi is on a relentless pursuit to keep patient safety front and center in conversations about the healthcare system. Since July 2013, Gandhi has been president and CEO of the National Patient Safety Foundation. The nation has made great strides in reducing preventable patient harms over the past 16 years, but that doesn't mean the battle is over, she urges. "We are still a long way from the goal of zero harm," she has said. The 47-year-old board-certified internist and associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School travels the globe educating about the role of information systems in reducing medical errors. She also helps providers to implement safety programs that create high-reliability systems.
