Rank: 39
Kenneth Davis
President and CEO, Mount Sinai Health System
Dr. Kenneth Davis, 68, started out as a physician and researcher studying the biology of schizophrenia. He has contributed to hundreds of research papers and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine. His research in Alzheimer's disease led the Food and Drug Administration to approve three of the first four drugs on the market for its treatment. Davis joined Mount Sinai Medical School more than three decades ago, eventually becoming dean of the school and president and CEO of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York in 2003. Ten years later, he oversaw the merger of Mount Sinai with Continuum Health Partners to create Mount Sinai Health System, of which he was named the chief executive. "We believe the future of medicine is in large, integrated health systems that have the ability to manage population health and to take risk," Davis told Modern Healthcare at the time.
