The CEO of the sprawling Dallas-based system has been an integral leader in its expansion. Allison spearheaded the merger in 2013 between Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare, creating the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas with 48 hospitals, a health insurance company and more than 5,800 affiliated physicians. Allison announced his retirement in March after 23 years with the system. He will step down early next year but will remain a senior adviser with a focus on philanthropy. The system reported $7.5 billion in revenue in 2015 and posted an impressive 8.9% operating margin.
