Perlin oversees clinical services and performance improvement throughout the largest hospital chain in the U.S. One area of focus is the use of electronic health-record data collection and analytics to improve quality and patient safety. Before coming to HCA, he served as undersecretary for health in the U.S. Veterans Affairs Department and CEO of the Veterans Health Administration. Perlin served as chairman of the American Hospital Association in 2015 and last fall was elected to the National Academy of Medicine.
