Although he's only been at the helm of Memorial Hermann since June, Chu said he plans to use his clinical and administrative experience to "galvanize" the 13-hospital system. A former internist turned executive, Chu most recently served as executive vice president of Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plans, as well as president of Kaiser's Southern California and Georgia markets. Chu also served a one-year term as chairman of the America Hospital Association in 2013. He told Modern Healthcare that his leadership role at Memorial Hermann will probably be his last in his long career.
