Breier took the helm of the largest U.S. company focused on post-acute-care in March 2015 and has continued to grow the $7 billion health system's holdings through a series of strategic and diverse acquisitions. Under his leadership, the Louisville, Ky.-based giant purchased Gentiva Health Systems for $1.8 billion and privatized Arkansas' home health operations. Those moves will help the company act as a post-acute benefit manager for hospitals as they feel the strain of bundled payments and new CMS rules for long-term acute-care hospital payments. So far, the strategy is paying off as Kindred saw a 40% jump in revenue in 2015.
