The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway is crucial for regulating tumorigenesis and cell survival, and plays a key role in development and progression of non-small cell lung cancer. The discovery of EGFR mutations and development of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) has revolutionized the treatment of NSCLC, allowing for a more personalized therapy approach with these mutations. However, as more treatments have arisen, so has the need for mutational testing. Research indicated there was a clear need for additional education among oncologists on related issues.
