Borgstrom, CEO of the Yale New Haven Health System, has been with the organization since the beginning of her professional career. After earning a master's degree in public health from Yale in 1979, she worked as a postgraduate fellow with Yale-New Haven Hospital, the system's flagship. She has held a variety of staff and leadership roles at the organization before being named chief operating officer in 1994 and CEO in 2005. Along the way, the organization has grown steadily, including acquisitions that have blended secular and religious providers. The system now has roughly $2 billion in annual revenue.
