Top 25 Women in Healthcare - 2015
Leah Binder,
52
President, Leapfrog Group
Under Binder’s leadership as president of the Leapfrog Group, a not-for-profit focused on improving safety and quality in hospitals, Leapfrog launched the Hospital Safety Score, which assigns letter grades to hospitals across the country. She has also led initiatives to eliminate early elective deliveries, central line-associated bloodstream infections and promote safe use of health technology. Though great progress has been made, “I’d like to see the full engagement of consumers and purchasers in demanding safety,” she says. Before joining Leapfrog, Binder, 52, held several roles, including serving as a senior policy adviser to New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and handling policy communications for the National League for Nursing.
