Karen Ignagni
President/CEO, America's Health Insurance Plans
Ignagni serves as president and CEO of America's Health Insurance Plans and has been the top lobbyist of the health insurance industry for roughly two decades. Ignagni, 61, was an influential stakeholder when the Affordable Care Act was created during President Barack Obama's first term. Health insurers won several concessions, and the law itself opened their doors to millions of Americans mandated to pay for health coverage. Previously, she was the director of the AFL-CIO's department of employee benefits and also was a staff member on the U.S. Senate Labor and Resources Committee.
