Nabel, 63, has served as president of Brigham and Women's Hospital since 2010. At the hospital, she led development of a strategic plan defining a new model of medicine focused on innovation in care redesign toward population health management; research through life sciences collaboration; and personalized therapies and translational medicine. She's also a professor at Harvard Medical School and an accomplished biomedical researcher. Her work on the molecular genetics of cardiovascular diseases has led to 17 patents and more than 250 scientific publications. She also served as director of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute from 2005 to 2009.
