Dr. Steven Altschuler, 61, has been CEO at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia since 2000, but his service at the organization—considered the nation’s oldest hospital dedicated to the treatment of children—totals more than 30 years. He started in 1982 as a fellow in the department of pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition. He later was physician-in-chief and the first holder of the Leonard and Madlyn Abramson Endowed Chair in Pediatrics at the hospital and professor and chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
