Peter Slavin
President, Massachusetts General Hospital
Dr. Peter Slavin, 57, has been president of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston since 2003. The 999-staffed bed medical center admits nearly 50,000 inpatients each year, and handles nearly 1.5 million visits in outpatient programs at its main campus, four health centers and multiple satellite facilities. Slavin has spent the majority of his career at Massachusetts General. He did his training in internal medicine at the hospital between 1984 and 1987. He left the East Coast in 1997 to serve as the first president of the then-newly merged Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, a post he held for two years. In addition to various roles at Mass General, Slavin spent some time on the medical staff for the National Football League's New England Patriots.
