Darrell Kirch
President and CEO, Association of American Medical Colleges
Dr. Darrell Kirch has been president and CEO of the Association of American Medical Colleges since 2006. He previously worked as dean of the Penn State College of Medicine and CEO of the university’s Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, and as dean of the Medical College of Georgia. Kirch, 65, a psychiatrist and clinical neuroscientist, has advocated for increased funding for graduate medical education for Medicaid expansion—which he said has been “critically important” for the AAMC’s 400 teaching-hospital members. He told Modern Healthcare that the AAMC would “argue strongly against anything that would roll back that insurance coverage.”
