Dr. Benjamin Chu, group president for Kaiser Permanente Southern California and Georgia, oversees the operations of 14 hospitals, nearly 240 medical clinics and more than 4 million Kaiser health plan members. Chu, 63, the 2013 board chairman of the American Hospital Association, has been an advocate for clinical quality improvement. He also has an extensive public health background, previously serving as New York City's acting health commissioner and three years as president of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp.
