As president of the National Committee for Quality Assurance, Margaret Peggy O'Kane, 65, has been helping to establish standards for healthcare quality since 1990 O'Kane leads the not-for-profit organization, which aims to improve healthcare through measurement, transparency and accountability. The NCQA, the gold standard for evaluating health plans, also has a recognition program for patient-centered medical homes. It recently launched one for patient-centered specialty practices that meet measures for care coordination.
