A Rhode Island man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a police officer and waving a knife at security officers at a hospital.
The Providence Journal reports that Miriam Hospital security officers told police the confrontation began Friday night when 37-year-old Dennis Flores was told to leave the emergency room and wait for his girlfriend in the waiting room.
When he refused to leave, he was escorted out.
The security officers say Flores drew a knife.
Police say they didn't find a knife on him, but he used his fists and feet to fight being handcuffed, kicking and punching one officer in the chest and face.
Flores was charged with assault, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer. He was held for arraignment.
