    Dr. Steven J. Bernstein
    Chief Quality Officer
    Michigan Medicine

    Steven J. Bernstein is associate dean for clinical affairs and the chief quality officer at Michigan Medicine. He is professor of medicine at the U-M School of Medicine and a Research Scientist at the VA Center for Clinical Management Research. Steven's work has focused on the appropriateness of care and quality improvement activities. His office is responsible for health system quality, safety, performance improvement and works with payers on pay-for-performance programs. He earned his MD from the University of Rochester, completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh, and received his MPH from UCLA.

     

    Dr. Chris DeRienzo
    Chief Quality Officer
    Mission Health

    Dr. Chris DeRienzo serves as Chief Quality Officer for Mission Health. In this role, Dr. DeRienzo has executive responsibility across the enterprise for patient safety, analytics, clinical and operational redesign, patient experience, quality reporting, risk management, performance improvement, infection prevention, accreditation, environmental health & safety, and security. He is also a practicing neonatologist with Mission Children's and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics with the Duke University and University of North Carolina Schools of Medicine.

     

    Dr. Shannon Phillips
    Chief Patient Experience Officer
    Intermountain Healthcare

    Shannon leads the Office of Patient Experience supporting caregivers in delivering on an experience that is personalized and caring, supports health, delivers exceptional outcomes and is free from harm. Prior to joining Intermountain, she served as Cleveland Clinic's first patient safety officer and as associate chief quality officer.

    Currently, she sits on the National Quality Forum's Expert Panel on Common Formats and the Measures Application Partnership Hospital Workgroup. Additionally, she serves on the Executive Committee of the Council on Quality and Patient Safety of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been a visiting professor and invited consultant to organizations in the US and across the globe.

     

    Dr. Angela A. Shippy
    SVP and Chief Quality Officer
    Memorial Hermann

    Angela A. Shippy, M.D., FACP, FHM, is Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer of the Memorial Hermann Health System where she has oversight for clinical quality, patient safety, infection prevention, accreditation, registry reporting, clinical quality review, quality data management, performance improvement methodology training along with lab and pharmacy across all Memorial Hermann hospitals. In this role, she works to advance Memorial Hermann's uncompromising commitment to high reliability while providing patients with the best possible outcomes.

    Vice President of Clinical Executives, Clinical Solutions Division
    Elsevier

    Dr. J. Drew Furst, MD, DABFM, DABPM-CI, Vice President of Clinical Executives in Elsevier's Clinical Solutions Division, leads a team of clinician experts driving transformation of care processes while aiding in improved patient and client satisfaction.

    Prior to Elsevier, Drew lead a team of physician consultants for Siemens Medical for 10 years focused on innovative HIT solutions.

    A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, he completed his Family Medicine Residency at Cone Health and became the founding partner and CFO of Carolina Emergency Physicians for 6 years.

    Drew moved to Bristol, VA, where he managed Horizon Family Medicine, building it over 10 years from a solo practice to a group of 4 healthcare practitioners. He ranked in the top 5% of Virginia physicians in patient satisfaction surveys for BCBS.

    A North Carolina native, Drew earned his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from NC State and Doctor of Medicine Degree from UNC Chapel Hill. He is board certified in Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics and holds active medical licenses in Virginia and North Carolina.
