Rising star: Sarah Oerther
Sarah Oerther, 35
Although still relatively early in her career, Sarah Oerther has already established herself as a leader in nurse education, mentoring and activism. She graduated summa cum laude from Xavier University, where she founded the student chapter of Nurses Without Borders and spearheaded a program to develop a nutrition program for three villages in Tanzania. As a Ph.D. student at St. Louis University, Oerther was elected in 2017 to serve as secretary of the Midwest Nursing Research Society's emerging scholars program. She's also been named communications chair for the American Public Health Association's nursing section. Oerther has also mentored younger nurses and developed training programs to advance evidence-based nursing globally.
