The CMS announced Tuesday that it has created a new data submission system for doctors and other clinicians participating in the Quality Payment Program, which went into effect this week.
The new system is intended to make submitting data easier for clinicians and reduce administrative burden, the CMS said.
The previous system required clinicians to use multiple websites to submit MACRA data. Under the new system, they will use only the Quality Payment Program website.
CMS Administrator Seema Verma said the agency is committed to implementing MACRA "in the least burdensome way possible" for providers.
The website offers clinicians a few options to report data. They can submit data through their electronic health record or they can manually upload it.
After performance data is submitted, clinicians can see in real time how they score so far in categories under MIPS. The real-time score will not take into account the clinician's participation in advanced alternative payment models.
The CMS encourages clinicians to use the website often so they can grow more accustomed to the process.
The period to submit data for MIPS is Jan. 1 to March 31.
