In August, hacking caused 54.5 percent of healthcare data breaches in August, while insider threats made up 27.3 percent of breaches, according to the Protenus Breach Barometer.
The chief medical officer of Express Scripts Holding Co. wrote in a blog post that the price of the drug, Kymriah, is much higher than other complex treatments. Similar drugs are usually used only once by a few patients. "Therein lies the challenger," the CMO wrote. "We need a new payment model."
The FDA said Ocaliva, made by Intercept Pharmaceuticals, is occasionally improperly dosed in patients with a rare liver disease, a mistake that increases the risk of liver damage and death.
