Community Health Systems continued Tuesday to shed assets as it looks to reduce nearly $15 billion in debt.
The Franklin, Tenn.-based health system announced that it reached an agreement to sell Weatherford Regional Medical Center to HCA Healthcare for an undisclosed price.
The 103-bed medical center outside Fort Worth, Texas, will become part of HCA's Medical City Healthcare network when the deal is expected to be completed by this fall, pending the customary regulatory review.
"The addition of Weatherford Regional to our Medical City Healthcare family will help us improve patient access in the Fort Worth area," Sam Hazen, president and COO of HCA, said in a statement.
Nashville-based HCA Healthcare, the nation's largest operator of investor-owned hospitals, proposed to offer an undisclosed amount of senior secured notes last month to fund new acquisitions. HCA operates 174 hospitals throughout 20 states and its Medical City Healthcare network includes 13 hospitals.
