HealthPass New York, a private insurance exchange for small employers, has agreed to start offering Oscar's new plans for small businesses.
The startup health plan recently launched Oscar for Business after entering the insurance market to sell plans to individuals on the public New York State of Health marketplace in 2013.
Oscar will offer eight plans with varying benefit packages to businesses with one to 100 employees. The plans are available in New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Rockland counties. Coverage will start as early as Sept. 1.
Oscar is marketing features to small employers that it has previously rolled out to individuals. It offers members a concierge team with a nurse and certain customer service representatives who will interact with the member for each query.
The insurer joins UnitedHealthcare's Oxford and CareConnect on HealthPass New York, which lost Health Republic Insurance of New York when it was shut down by regulators.
"The Oscar plans are an ideal complement to our existing offerings and truly enhance our portfolio of benefit options," HealthPass president and chief executive Vincent Ashton said in a statement.
"Oscar turns to private marketplace to help sell health plans to small businesses" originally appeared in Crain's New York Business.
