AMGA, a physician group trade association, has named Ryan O'Connor as its interim CEO.
O'Connor will steer the association, formerly the American Medical Group Association, while a search continues for a permanent CEO.
He replaces long-time CEO Donald Fisher, who died in March at age 71 from cancer.
O'Connor has served for more than 20 years as AMGA's vice president of membership and marketing. "We believe Ryan's extensive experience with healthcare organizations positions him well for this expanded role," said Donn Sorensen, AMGA Board of Directors and executive vice president, Mercy.
The Alexandria, Va.-based trade group advocates for physician groups on a host of issues, including CMS's push for physicians to take more financial risk for the quality and cost of care.
