Steve Martenet is the new president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio, and will oversee management of Anthem's commercial business and strategy in the state.
Martenet, a Mansfield native with more than two decades of experience in the industry, has held senior leadership positions at Anthem, including president of commercial business in Missouri and Wisconsin and vice president of sales in Ohio and Kentucky, according to a news release.
"Steve's Ohio roots and passion for transforming the health care system to improve access and affordability make him a perfect fit for this role," Anthem's West Region president Pam Kehaly said in a statement.
Martenet replaces Erin Hoeflinger, who was promoted to oversee Anthem's East Region including Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Virginia.
"Ohio is one of Anthem's most important and exciting markets, having grown to nearly four million members statewide," Martenet said in a statement. "I'm looking forward to the challenge of this diverse market that is, in many ways, leading the country in the shift to a patient-centered health care model."
Martenet graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
