Joe Mullany, CEO of Detroit Medical Center for the past four years, was replaced last week. He has been succeeded by Dr. Tony Tedeschi, former CEO of Tenet Healthcare Corp.'s four-hospital Chicago market. Tenet is DMC's parent company.

Mullany was hired as president in 2012 by then-CEO Mike Duggan, who was looking for a replacement to succeed him if he was elected mayor of Detroit. Duggan was elected in November 2013.

Before joining Tenet, Tedeschi served as COO of publicly owned Cook County Health & Hospitals System in Chicago.

    Luke

Leslie Paul Luke has been named president and CEO of St. Joseph's Health in Syracuse, N.Y., effective Feb. 20. He replaces Kathryn Ruscitto, who announced in 2016 she will retire.

Luke, 55, currently serves as interim CEO of Tennova East, a seven-hospital system in Knoxville, Tenn., part of Community Health Systems. Luke joined CHS in 2006 and has held several leadership roles in the system.

Chad Melton has been named CEO of Fauquier Health, based in Warrenton, Va., effective Feb. 13. He is replacing Rodger Baker, who will retire this year after 30 years as head of the organization.

Melton, 40, most recently was CEO of Wythe County Community Hospital, a LifePoint facility in Wytheville, Va. Previously he was director of operations at LHP Hospital Group in Plano, Texas, where he oversaw operations at five acute-care hospitals. He also was CEO of HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley in Westwood, N.J.

    Tam

Paulina Tam has been named COO of St. Petersburg (Fla.) General Hospital, an HCA facility. She succeeds Stephanie McNulty, who left to serve as COO of Largo (Fla.) Medical Center, also an HCA facility.

Tam, 36, was previously VP of operations at HCA's Tampa (Fla.) Community Hospital and director of performance improvement for surgical services at HCA West Florida Division. She has also been the senior management engineer for HCA's South Atlantic Division.

Rachel Miles has been named chief nursing officer at HCA's Medical Center of Aurora (Colo.), effective Jan. 30. She replaces Erica Rossitto, who was promoted to CNO of HCA's HealthONE Continental Division in Denver, which includes eight hospitals and six stand-alone emergency departments.

Miles, 37, has been CNO since February 2014 of Northeast Methodist Hospital, an HCA facility in San Antonio. Previously she was VP of nursing for Methodist Health System in Dallas.

Allen Carroll, longtime CEO of Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, S.C., will retire in May.

Allen, 59, has led Bon Secours St. Francis for 22 years. The facility is one of Roper St. Francis' three hospitals. He joined Bon Secours St. Francis in 1990 as COO and was promoted to CEO in 1995. Allen was named VP of operations for Roper St. Francis after its merger was complete in 1998.

In 2015, Carroll assumed additional leadership responsibilities at the system, leading the planning of a new Roper St. Francis hospital in Berkeley County, S.C.
