Letters: Valued-based payment models deliver high-quality affordable care

Regarding the poll, “The way forward on value-based pay initiatives?” (ModernHealthcare.com, Dec. 22): It is not a question of why value-based payment needs to stay and be expanded; it's the only way to deliver the high-quality affordable care our patients deserve. U.S. Rep. Tom Price (President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for HHS secretary) has no clue what he is talking about. I am hopeful that good sense will prevail once he is in office.

Regarding the article: “Incoming Congress immediately will pick up Obamacare repeal,” (Modernhealthcare.com, Dec. 27). So, we struggle to train and adapt to new procedures, invest in costly systems, and sacrifice to get at least basic coverage to most people, allowing providers to finally get paid something for treating these people who were previously uninsured, and now you (Congress) want to destroy the only system we have with nothing to replace it with because you don't like President Barack Obama? Is there a reason you can't address the shortfalls of the Affordable Care Act one at a time without throwing the industry into complete chaos?
