David Jones has been named chief human resources officer at Stanford Health Care, Palo Alto, Calif., effective Jan. 3. He replaces Kety Duron, who left to serve as chief human resources officer at City of Hope, a research and cancer treatment center in Durate, Calif.
Most recently, Jones was VP of human resources at Kaiser Permanente's health information technology organization, which has more than 7,000 employees. He previously served as VP of organization and leadership effectiveness at Blue Shield of California and senior VP and chief human resources officer at Health Care Service Corp.
Larry Schulz will retire as CEO of Lake Region Healthcare based in Fergus Falls, Minn., effective in May.
Schulz, 61, was named CEO in December 2008. During his tenure, he led the opening of a cancer center and a walk-in clinic. He also served as chairman of the Minnesota Hospital Association and chairman of the American Hospital Association Section for Small or Rural Hospitals.
Before joining Lake Region, Schulz served for seven years as the senior VP of operations at Catholic Health Initiatives in Englewood, Colo.
Shafiq Rab has been named senior VP and CIO of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, effective Jan. 9. He replaces Lac Van Tran, who retired this summer after 14 years as CIO.
Rab is currently CIO and senior VP of information technology at Hackensack (N.J.) University Health Network. Before joining Hackensack in 2012, Rab was VP and CIO for four years at Greater Hudson Valley Health System in New York.
