Pilon named president of Transylvania Regional Hospital, and other newsmakers

Michele Pilon has been named president and chief nursing officer at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, N.C., effective Nov. 14. The hospital is part of Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health. She succeeds Melina Arrowood, who held the roles on an interim basis and who will become Transylvania's clinical operations manager.

Pilon most recently was CNO at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville (Va.). Previously she served as chief nurse executive at Davis Regional Medical Center in Statesville, N.C., VP of patient-care services at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, N.C., and assistant CNO at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Fla.

Allan Spooner has been named president and CEO of Franciscan Health's Olympia Fields and Chicago Heights hospitals in Illinois, effective Oct. 31. He succeeds Arnie Kimmel, who had been CEO at the hospitals since 2013 and now serves as senior VP of corporate services for Franciscan Alliance.

Spooner most recently was president of the hospital division at Columbia St. Mary's, a five-hospital system based in Milwaukee. Columbia St. Mary's is part of Ascension Health. He previously served as president and CEO of Dignity Health's St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nev., and VP of business and corporate development at St. John Providence Health System, based in Warren, Mich.

Phil Young has been named CEO of the Hospitals of Providence East Campus in El Paso, Texas. He replaces Nicholas Tejeda, who departed in May to serve as CEO of the Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus in El Paso.

Young has previously served as CEO of Doctors' Hospital of Opelousas (La.) and president of the Southern Tennessee Regional Health System.

Dr. John Votto has retired as president and CEO of the Hospital for Special Care and its parent company, Center for Special Care, after 18 years at the helm of the New Britain, Conn.-based long-term acute-care hospital. He was succeeded by Lynn Ricci, who joined the hospital in 2007 and most recently served as senior VP and COO.

Votto, 65, officially stepped down from his post at the Hospital for Special Care last year but remained with the parent company through the transition until this month. The specialty-care hospital credits him with building it into a national model of care for complex populations. He has represented the hospital and the National Association of Long Term Care Hospitals on Capitol Hill, providing testimony to the CMS

and Congress.

Daniel Davis has been named managing director and CFO at Oklahoma City-based Integris Health, effective Oct. 31. He replaces David Hadley, who was injured in an unspecified accident in March. Integris announced in August that Hadley, who had been with Integris since February 2014, would not return.

Davis most recently was CFO at OU Medical Center, an affiliate of the University of Oklahoma. He spent most of his 30-year career in healthcare finance positions at HCA hospitals.
