Dr. Carrie Byington has been named vice chancellor for health services, dean of the college of medicine and senior VP for the Health Science Center at Texas A&M University, effective in January.
Since 2012, Byington has served as vice dean for academic affairs and faculty development for the University of Utah School of Medicine. In 2013, she took on the additional role of associate vice president for faculty and academic affairs for the Health Sciences campus, which includes the schools of medicine and dentistry, and the colleges of health, nursing and pharmacy.
A federally funded researcher, Byington has conducted studies focused on bacterial and viral respiratory pathogens in children. She also served earlier this year as chair of the Infectious Diseases Advisory Group for the U.S. Olympic Committee.
