Teresa Kline will become the new president and CEO of Health Alliance Plan of Michigan and executive vice president of Henry Ford Health System, effective Nov. 21.
A native of Michigan and alumni of the University of Michigan, Kline has been a health care consultant in Atlanta the past two years after working as a top manager at several for-profit health insurance companies and a Blues plan as part of a 30-year career.
She replaces Jim Connelly, who headed HAP for several years until he retired in August 2015 after serving as CFO of Henry Ford Health System, which owns HAP.
"With Terri's blend of payer and provider experience in insurance, managed care and provider environments, and her deep knowledge of health care market dynamics and regulations, she is a great fit to lead HAP," Wright Lassiter, Henry Ford Health's president, said in a statement.
"Terri excels at understanding and responding to the needs of health plan members, and has a history of partnering with providers and payers to do what is in the best interest of the community."
Kline has been senior vice president and chief health care management officer for Chicago-based Health Care Service Corp., a multi-state Blue Cross plan and the nation's fourth-largest U.S. health insurer.
She also was CEO of CHA Health, CEO of UnitedHealthcare of Georgia and regional vice president of Aetna Health Plans in the Southeast.
