University of Colorado Health announced Tuesday that George Hayes, president and CEO of Memorial Hospital Central and Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs, Colo., will step down effective Nov. 4.
Hayes served as president and CEO of the hospitals for two years. He was previously president and CEO of UCHealth's Medical Center of Rockies in Loveland, Colo., for 10 years, and COO of Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City.
Memorial board members, providers and leaders will led a search for a new president and CEO later this year, according to a news release.
Throughout his tenure at the hospitals, Hayes led more than $130 million in facility and service improvements. The city of Colorado Springs received $1.3 million in revenue-sharing from UCHealth.
“It has been a privilege to serve as CEO and an honor to work with such tremendous individuals to achieve impressive accomplishments in quality and patient experience,” Hayes said in a prepared statement.
Hayes is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the boards of the Trauma Center Association of America and the Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance.
UC Health is a six-hospital system affiliated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The system reported revenue of $784.6 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2015, up 17% from the same period a year earlier,. It has an operating margin of 13.5%.
