Dr. Brian Harte has been named president of the Cleveland Clinic Akron (Ohio) General Medical Center and the system's southern region, effective Sept. 26. He replaces Janice Murphy, who served as interim president. She will return to her role as COO for Cleveland Clinic's regional operations.
Harte previously was president for three years of the Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital. He has been with the Cleveland Clinic system since 2004.
Thomas Barnett has been named chief information officer at the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center, effective Oct. 10. He succeeds Jerry Powell, who retired this year.
Barnett most recently was a VP at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Ill. Previously he served for seven years as executive director of information technology at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit.
Carl Risk has been named president of Elkhart (Ind.) General Hospital, part of Beacon Health System based in South Bend, Ind. He replaces Greg Losasso, who retired this year.
Risk, 42, was hospital administrator of St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, Ind., for five years, overseeing implementation of the hospital's strategic plans and overall operations. He also served for four years as VP of clinical services at King's Daughters' Hospital and Health Services in Madison, Ind.
