Who: Justin Bradshaw, 38
New role: CEO of Cardon Children's Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz., part of Banner Health, effective Oct. 31. The hospital has 206 beds and 17 specialty clinics. He replaces Rhonda Anderson, who retired in June.
Background: Bradshaw was previously VP of clinical and ancillary services at Children's Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., for five years. He also served as operations manager for Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Team-building: At Mayo, Bradshaw said he learned skills to foster strong relationships with physicians and physician leaders to develop strategic plans. “The goal is to take my teamwork and care coordination (experiences) and build on the great things they're doing at Banner.” He plans to work closely with other Banner pediatric centers including the system's Diamond Children's Medical Center in Tucson.
Expanding care: He said one of the challenges facing pediatrics is providing the appropriate care to the appropriate populations. “When you look at pediatrics, most children are healthy, so we have this small subset of a population who need care and oftentimes when they are sick, they are really sick.” He said he hopes to expand subspecialty programs to address future needs.
