Who: Dr. Norvell Coots
New role: President and CEO of Holy Cross Health, a two-hospital system based in Silver Spring, Md., part of Trinity Health. He replaces Kevin Sexton, who retired after 18 years at the system. Sexton joined Holy Cross in 1998 and also served as president and CEO of the Maryland region of Trinity Health. Under his leadership, Holy Cross opened Holy Cross Germantown Hospital and created Holy Cross Health Network, which includes neighborhood centers and primary-care sites.
Background: Coots was previously commanding general and CEO of the military's Regional Health Command Europe, a health system that includes clinics and the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. Landstuhl, the largest American hospital outside of the U.S., is a major provider of trauma and specialty services for members of the armed services. He also served as surgeon general for the U.S. forces in Afghanistan, CEO of the Walter Reed Health Care System in Washington, D.C., and the Keller Army Community Hospital in West Point, N.Y.
