HCA's East Florida division will invest about $650 million in its facilities, including a $219 million hospital.
The multimillion-dollar investment, which also includes upgrades and expansions of existing buildings, will take about three years to complete. The largest investment will be the construction of a hospital on the campus of Nova Southeastern University in Davie. HCA currently operates a free-standing emergency room on the campus.
Other investments include $108 million in upgrades at JFK Medical Center in Palm Beach. The 472-bed hospital will get a three-story bed tower, a larger ER and renovated patient rooms. Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami will receive $90 million in upgrades, including a four-story tower with additional intensive-care and pediatric beds.
